The Spring Street Farm Project’s – Weekly Farm Stand is open!
The farm stand is open every Tuesday and Friday from 10a-5p rain or shine. We feature just harvested produce and farm fresh eggs.
All of the produce in the stand is grown sustainably which means, we adhere to the organic principles of farming. We occasionally use organic fertilizer -specifically fish emulsion. Once or twice a year we might need to control an outbreak of aphids – and will make up a batch of oil and pepper spray…an all natural remedy. Our seeds and plant starts are certified organic.
We also love and support the use of local backyard fruit, which we will go out and harvest – please contact us if you know someone who needs help with their trees.
In our quest to provide the best possible locally grown, in-season produce – we source items to round out the selection. Please feel free to ask where any of the produce on the table come from…we are happy to share the story of each item…so you may rest assured – if we didn’t grow it, we know who did!
In addition to the yummy produce, soon we will be stocking heirloom seeds and grains, as well as some plant starts. We are currently working on handmade reusable totes, bags and tee shirts designed and screen printed by the Long Beach Community Action Partnership’s L.A.M.P. (Leadership Academy Mentoring Program) teens.
We look forward to seeing you at the stand and in the field!
Green Jobs Interns and Carpenter Handyman Scott, got started on the Farm Stand for Spring Street Farm Project in December 2010, slideshow of the first work day below.
Work will begin soon on a permanent shade structure! We are the lucky to be working with a great Boy Scout and Eagle Candidate on our second Eagle Scout Project at the farm. Yea!
We are always meeting and greeting our neighbors and building community.
It is wonderful to experience the outpouring of enthusiasm
and to share our hard work.
