The Abundance of Summer

2011_6_2-Mystery-boxHere is a great article about cooking, preserving and enjoying local summer crops.  The onslaught of squash is heading our way now!  The Kitchn has a whole series of tips-I have to have this book titled – The City Cook, Big City, Small Kitchen, Limitless Ingredients, No Time.  Sound familiar?!2011_6_2-The-City-Cook-cover

Save the Library!

We just launched a fundraising program with the Hughes Middle School Library Team.  And it is something we all need more of – Healthy, local and sustainably grown produce!!  Anyone can support the Library and our wonderful librarian, Dr. Taylor by participating is our Farm Box Program we call Food for Thought!  We have made this program as convenient, flexible and customizable as possible…read on for details:

The Food for Thought fundraiser is a great way to help save the Hughes Middle School Library and our beloved librarian Dr. Taylor!
The farm box consists of produce that is local and sustainably grown (no harmful pesticides and organically fertilized).  Inside each box, you will find a minimum of 10 different types of fruits and vegetables, which will vary slightly from week to week and vastly as the seasons change.
For every Box o’ Produce you purchase $5 dollars goes directly to the library fund!  The boxes start at $30 each and you have your choice of once or twice per month or weekly – it’s up to you.
It’s convenient,  it’s  healthy and it’s easy to participate!

The Farm Stand is located right at the corner of:
Elm Avenue and Spring Street.
