SAVE THE HUGHES LIBRARY
SPRING PLANT SALE
Saturday March 31st
Hughes Middle School/Longfellow Upper Playground
California Avenue at Bixby Road
9:00am – 3:00pm
The Hughes Green Team and the Green Lab Urban Farm will host a spring plant sale to raise money to keep a full time library at Hughes. Due to severe budget cuts the library is currently scheduled for 50% closure.
The sale will feature vegetable varieties including a large selection of heirloom tomatoes, peppers and chiles, and herbs—as well as many hearty “California Friendly” perennials that thrive in our local climate. We have also hand picked several “Bee and Butterfly” flowers that support the pollinators! Feast your eyes on a partial list of plant material we will have on hand for you to choose from. It’s an exciting array of colors, fragrances and eventually…flavors!
Peppers and Chiles:
Red, Green and Orange Bell
Chile de Arbol
Mint-English, Orange, Pinapple
Oregano-Golden and Mexican
Sage-Golden and Tricolor
Thyme-English, French, and Golden
Flowers and Perennials:
Achillea – yarrow
Pride of Madiera
Santa Barbara Daisy
Please stop by and say hello – even if you are not quite ready to plant…you may want to check out the selection and place an order to be picked up at the Spring Street Farm Stand at Spring Street and Elm Avenue after the Spring break!
Just come on out and drink in the inspiration, you won’t be sorry and we will be so grateful!
