Before and After: Spring Street Farm

The Salvation Army has generously allowed us to develop this 1 acre parcel in to the LBCAP campus farm, demonstration  gardens and teaching site.  The image above is the view looking north to the Memorial Heights neighborhood from Spring Street.

Same lot, new view!!  What a difference a few months, lots of hard work, the generosity and commitment of many can make!!  The Spring Street Farm project is taking shape.  Green Leaf, Red Oak, Romaine and Iceberg lettuces are thriving in the field thanks to some much needed rain and a lot of tilling.  Also in the ground and coming along nicely are fennel, celery, leeks, green onions, beets, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, peas, parsley, cilantro, spinach and the piece de resistance…strawberries and blackberries!
